April 14, 2016
We are off to a great start on the Georgia Milestones! I have been so impressed with the effort they are putting forth so far – keep it up!
If you would like to send in a bag of individually wrapped mints, Jolly Ranchers, or hard candies for the students to have during Milestones testing, they would appreciate it!
The Poetry Cafe is next Thursday. Please see Mrs. Clay to sign up to read your poem.
Fifth grade students will go on a picnic at Kenworth Park on May 4, sponsored by the Kennesaw/ Acworth Optimists’ Club. Students have written a paper as their “ticket” to the picnic. Please fill out the cover sheet for your paper and the permission slip for the trip and return by next Thursday, April 21.
The final report card of the year will be sent home after school is out. Please send in 3 postage stamps so we can send your child’s home. Report cards will be held in the office if we do not receive the stamps.
Their plant and animal cell projects look great. If projects are not turned in they are 10 points off each day! They were due on Tuesday!
What we are studying:
Reading – completing point of view
Writing –conventions over spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
Math – review of all items learned this year. Each day we reviewed a different unit.
Science – cells
Social Studies- cold war
Health - careers
