December 10, 2015
Thank you to everyone that participated in our Spirit Cup fundraiser! The money raised will help to cut our costs on our fifth grade field trip and end of the year activities for fifth grade! Thank you for your support!
Results for last year’s Georgia Milestones are in your folder today. Please look them over to see how your child did. Celebrate their strengths, and come up with a plan to help them improve their weaknesses. We are using these results in school to do the same.
Make sure to color in your mitten each day you read for at least 20 minutes of your December reading log. They will be due when you come back in January.
Permission trips for our field trip to see the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at Lassiter Concert Hall next Thursday, December 17, went home last week. I have put another one in your folder if you have not returned yours. Please sign and return it ASAP.
We had Human Growth and Development classes yesterday and today. Please talk with your child about what they learned there.
As the temperatures begin to drop, please make sure to have coats for outside time. We try to get outside for recess when the temperature is above 40 degrees. I told the students they can always take a coat off if they get warm, but they can’t put one on if they don’t have one!
Our class Holiday Party will be next Wednesday, December 16, 1:00 – 2:00. Please return the form with what you plan to help us celebrate. Its bright yellow and went home yesterday.
Grades are closing as of next Friday- please check Synergy/Parent Vue to see if your child is missing assignments.
What we are studying:
Reading – identifying point of view and explaining the differences between them.
Writing – prepositions, coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions and improving our writing. Final copy of memorable place due next week.
Math – reviewing +,-,x, / fractions. New this week line plots. Test will be Monday- use interactive notebook to study from.
Science – Matter. Test is tomorrow. Students received a study guide to study from. It was sent home Monday and asked to be signed
