We have scheduled our fifth grade field trip to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga for Thursday, March 24. All permission slips and money are due by Friday, February 26.
On Thursday, February 25, we will be going to see a science program, “Dr. Kaboom,” to help us understand electricity better. Permission slips went home last week – please sign and return. We were able to get grants to cover the cost of the performance, as well as the buses, so there is no donation requested.
Market Day Business Plans are due tomorrow for final approval from the teacher. Don’t forget, a parent signature is required to ensure you parents know what your child is doing!
Students will participate in Jump Rope for Heart tomorrow. Thank you for your donations to this fundraiser for the American Heart Association.
The Rock-It in the Galaxy Dance will be Friday, February 26 at Acworth! Please return ticket order forms and money tomorrow for a discounted rate, but you can still pay at the door.
The Student Art Show will be Thursday, February 25, in the cafeteria. Student artwork will be on display for you to purchase, and the Acworth Chorus will perform. See the flyer for all the details.
There is no school next week for our February Break. Feel free to read and do First in Math! Enjoy your time off and come back ready to get right back to learning!
As you know Valentine’s Day is Sunday. We are valuing instructional time and will not have a party. Students have asked if they may bring them. Yes, they may bring them if they have one for everyone in our class. This is optional. I will provide students with a bag to take them home in. We will do this as part of our recess. A class list is provided on the back of this newsletter.
What we are studying:
Reading – digital dilemma. Using digital research to find answers to questions efficiently.
Writing – publishing informative (significant figure) due tomorrow.
Math – converting length, weight/mass, and capacity using both customary units and metric units. Quiz tomorrow!
Social Studies – World War II, events, and leaders.
