We are halfway through the fourth (and final!) grading period, so Progress Reports and Academic Alerts will come home tomorrow.
We will be going to Kenworth Park next Wednesday, May 4, for the Fifth Grade Picnic, sponsored by the Optimists’ Club. Please wear your Acworth Fifth Grade T-shirt and tennis shoes. Please bring the following items if needed/wanted: water bottle, sunglasses/hat, and bring sunscreen! We will be outside a majority of the day. Students need to also bring a dry set of clothes to leave at school while we are on the fieldtrip in case they get wet from the activities they are participating in while at the park.
Yesterday, the 6th grade guidance counselor, Mrs. Spencer, from Barber and a group of Barber Ambassadors came to speak to us about 6th grade. They had a presentation, then answered our students’ questions to help them prepare and feel at ease for next year. We will be visiting Barber next Thursday, May 5, to take a tour of the school and hear about what goes on in middle school. To keep you as parents informed, there will be a Parent Night for rising 6th graders on Tuesday, May 10, at 6:00 at Barber. You are encouraged to bring your student to this! From what we were told, there will be 6th grade teachers there, information about their connections, and they will get to meet other current 6th grade students that are there from various clubs/activities.
Yearbook order forms went home last week. Please return your order by tomorrow.
Mrs. Melton is looking for volunteers to help with our school gardens. Please return the form if you can help.
The final report card of the year will be sent home after school is out. Please send in 3 postage stamps so we can send your child’s report card home. Report cards will be held in the office if we do not receive the stamps.
